Where have we been?!?!
Last post Hixson was 6 weeks old ðŸ˜ðŸ˜ now he's 4 months.
Well here's the over due birth story.
I forgot dates and times (after all it was 4 months ago but I do remember the good parts)
37 week check up ( I was already 27 weeks for a few days I was closer to 38 weeks) I went into the doctor office (my mid wife office) and had very high blood pressure yet no protein and I felt fine they told me to go to the hospital to be monitored so I did I spent most of the day there and everything came back fine the next day I felt not so good and took my blood pressure and it was sky high again I called the doctors and they told me to come in ( having a feeling deep in my gut this might be time I might get induced so I packed the car with everything I thought I needed) they checked my blood pressure and was still high so I did a non stress test and blood pressure was going up and down. My midwife came in and said we should induce and I should go over to the hospital and admit myself and she'll be over in a few hours to induce so that I did (I felt so scared oh my god I'm going to have a baby) she informed me we were doing a 12 hour induction to start getting me dilated so I could get stronger meds.
Texting my family and husband telling them what's going on I went to the hospital and they started my induction but it didn't work 12 hours later my family where here and I didn't dilate at all so we did another round of 12 hour including meds and nothing 3ed times the charm right? So we did another round and then started contractions and boy they were not fun they monitored the baby the whole time after the contractions went away the next day the midwives wanted to send me home yet the doctor asked for a urine sample so I gave one and waited scared to go home and have high blood pressure and maybe have the baby get stressed talking to my husband and mom we decided going home wasn't an option seeing this is the same thing that happened to my sister and she ended up with a c section the midwives came back in with the doctor and the doctor checked me and said he might be too big for me to deliver and that going home wasn't a option. My options where to take strong medicine and be there for a few days, do another round of the 12 hour stuff or have a c section. He recommended just having the c section because he thinks the baby was too big for me. After talking with my husband we decided to just go with a c section so they set a time that Halloween day. I was completely calm and ready to meet my little man I was ready to fall in love with someone I never met before 4:30 came and they started preparing me for surgery. I was ready to get it over with because I was hungry and wanted something to drink cherry coke to be exact tom went to go upgrade my iPhone (part of my push present) every one was so worried he wouldn't make it in time and I was just calm and kinda scared. Tom made it just in time I got taken to the operation room by myself and got out on the table started to get really scared yet still calm taking to the nurses they started the spinal block and laid me down and tom and the doctor came in about 5-10 minutes later Hixson was born at 5:05 pm on Halloween day at 8lbs 4oz 19inches long after he was born the doctor said he was definitely too big for me to push out.
We went back to our room and started breastfeeding him and he latched right on however my milk didn't come in. I started pumping and barely got any colostrum but enough to give to him but he didn't get enough and lost weight so we had to supplement with formula then Hixson got jaundice and we had to stay for a few more days he started to gain weight and also the jaundice went away not completely but enough to go home. My milk came in the day we got to go home so much milk I got an infected duct my gosh it hurt so bad so I started pumping daily but had very bad bleeding nipples so when I pumped it was mostly blood and I didn't want to feed that to Hixson about a week went by and things got easier and about 2 weeks and it wasn't painful and we started to love breastfeeding.
I'm sure I've missed something in the story after all I am taking care of a 4 month old thanks to blogging on my phone and nap time this is possible.
I am going to try and blog more.
Lisa
